Job Description   

The project involves migration of databases storing trade related data for different regions, from Sybase ASE to Sybase IQ.

SMO system: The strategic middle office systems (SMO) support the core processing flows for the firm’s business. SMO is based on a distributed model and comprises of a number of sub systems. Standard, flexible, spreadsheet-like interfaces enables the SMO system to be used by traders, salesman, trade support, back office and risk/compliance staff alike.

Middle office reports are generated as part of the overnight processing, but some are run intra-day. Reports/batches also run on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. In addition, numerous data sets are generated on an ad-hoc basis and sent out to business users for whom the SMO (Strategic middle office) apps cannot satisfy requirements, for reasons of complexity, volume or performance. Thus, and due to the tremendously increasing volume of data, there is a need of migrating Sybase ASE objects to Sybase IQ for faster generation of reports.

Sybase IQ has features like bitmapped indexes, stores all data in vertical indexes with no traditional base table, and better data compression techniques than other databases.

Responsibilities:

• Modifying existing procedures in Sybase IQ

• Tuning and optimizing the stored procedures in IQ

• Perform UNIT testing of migrated objects to confirm the eligibility of the data in the report

• Migrating Sybase ASE objects like tables and stored procedures to Sybase IQ

• Perform testing to compare and match generated reports data in IQ with the data in Sybase ASE
